Cali is a nice city.

The largest and most important sugar refineries in South America have built in Cali but are not the only reason that Cali are a sweet city. The first impression that the visitors take of Cali is the extreme friendliness of the Caleños.

One can still enjoy Cali foot, dressed in a short sleeved shirt, Bermuda's and tennis shoes.

Here one can appreciate the varied character of Cali; a mixture of a Caribbean port, a colonial outpost, or a European village. But also, Cali is an industrial center.

The Caleños live in a virtual paradise. The salt breeze from the Pacific Ocean combines whit the pure fresh air of the Cauca River. Here, the descendants of the slaves brought over from Africa long ago, live with the great grandchildren of once aristocratic.

Here too, are the descendants of the Indians, as well as many foreigners and immigrants who have fled the wars. For this reason, one can find nightclubs where they dance the Salsa, just like in the Havana or in Puerto Rico.

But without a doubt, the most attractive aspect of Cali is the people.

One can eat a delicious chontaduro, which is sold and prepared by the black women who have very sincere smiles. Or one can simply admire the great array of fresh tropical fruit offered at every street corner. Or perhaps one would prefer to take a nostalgic walk through the San Antonio area, which is an old neighborhood, with many little narrow streets.

Or maybe one would rather spend time in the many shopping malls in the south of town, or take a refreshing swim in the water park wish has a wave pool, built by the Sugar cane association. All of this is possible because the Caleños are always friendly, always sincere, and always full of pride with regards to their city. Cali, indeed, is a great town

Cali es literalmente una ciudad dulce. Pero no solo porque podría haber sido construida a punta de ladrillos de azúcar, pues esta rodeada de los más grandes y productivos ingenios azucareros del continente, sino porque la primera impresión que reciben los visitantes, de parte de su gente, es una cordialidad que se derrite en los labios. Su ritmo sus espacios, sus pálpitos, son los de una ciudad amable que todavía se puede saborear a pie en camisa de mangas cortas, bermudas y zapatos de suela de goma.

Cali es un refugio colonial y villa europea, pero también es un pujante centro de desarrollo industrial.

Cali es una ciudad de millón y medio de habitantes, es la tercera ciudad del país quienes convergen en un punto en que la brisa salada procedente del O Océano Pacífico con el aire fresco y puro del Valle del Río Cauca, en el cual conviven juntos descendientes de esclavos traídos del Africa en los siglos viejos.

En Cali es posible encontrar bailaderos de salsa tan alegres y actuales como los de La Habana o Puerto Rico, y al mismo tiempo una plaza de toros como las de Madrid.

Pero sin duda lo más atractivo de la ciudad está en la gente. Los caleños suelen conversar en las terrazas y en las cafeterías abiertas al aire libre de la Avenida Sexta para después terminar el ritual en cualquiera de los amanecederos de Juanchito.
